Review of a few camera angles in Avengers (2012)

I chose to watch the 2012 Avengers movie. I’ve loved this movie ever since it first came out in theatre with all of its intensity and action. I already know this movie has tons of different angles in it too. I decided to go with the original Avengers movie because even though I’ve seen all of them I like the action and suspense in this movie the most.

The movie opens up with this birds eye view or in other words a Top shot where the audience can survey the military base. This is the SHIELD military base that is like a more extreme government. With this Top shot you can tell the movie wants the audience to know how large the military base is and where the action is about to occur. This shot also shows the cars and helicopters scrambling around in the midst of emergency.

This next scene shows Samuel L Jackson (aka Nick Fury) arriving at the base and coming out of a helicopter. This low angle shot of him getting out shows him being assertive and like the article states “ the low angle shot is to make the character feel dominant and important” which Nick Fury is. Nick Fury being the leader of the Avengers makes this low angle shot the perfect shot for such a huge leader.

This scene is an over the shoulder shot of Nick Fury looking at the Teseract. The Teseract is an Alien energy source that the SHIELD agency is meant to keep safe. The whole reason Nick Fury is there in the first place is to check in on this energy source because it is not working correctly.

This is an extreme close up of the character Loki’s face. He has a menacing grin in the close up and you can even see the sweat beads on his forehead to make the scene feel more intense. Loki is the main enemy in this movie because he wants to steal this alien energy source and take it to his leader. With this grin you can already tell he is up to no good and there will be an issue.

Here is a Full body shot of the beloved Iron man. He has just arrived at his Stark enterprise building and this shot of him makes him seem like an important character. In this long shot you can also see the beautiful city behind him.

Right here is a Medium shot of Captain America as his backup shows up in the ship behind him.
You can see the intensity on Captain America’s face like he is ready for battle.

This last and final shot is a pan shot of the whole Avengers group. This is one of the most iconic scenes in movie history where the Avengers stand in a circle and are ready to attack. Everything from the smoke in the background and ashes in the air. Even the music brings this scene together and hooks the audience into knowing a great battle is about to occur.
